Summary
A vulnerability in the SAML 2.0 single sign-on feature could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to conduct a cross-site scripting attack against the SAML feature and access sensitive, browser-based information. This vulnerability is due to insufficient input validation of multiple HTTP parameters. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by persuading a user to access a malicious link.
Details
| Severity | Base Score | CVE |
|---|---|---|
| MEDIUM | 6.1 | CVE-2026-20102 |
Exploitation
To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker must convince a user to click on a malicious link that targets the SAML feature. Once the user interacts with the link, the attacker can execute a reflected XSS attack, potentially gaining access to sensitive information stored in the user’s browser.
Affected Products
- Cisco Secure Firewall ASA Software: Vulnerable to XSS attacks via SAML 2.0 SSO feature.
- Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense Software: Also susceptible to the same XSS vulnerabilities through the SAML feature.
Mitigation
To mitigate this vulnerability, users should avoid clicking on untrusted links and ensure that their systems are updated with the latest security patches from Cisco. Implementing strict input validation and user education on recognizing phishing attempts can also help reduce the risk of exploitation.
